Guidelines for Third-Party Data Requests

Effective Date: January 1, 2026 Last Updated: January 1, 2026 Contact: legal@myjoyner.com

1. Purpose

These Guidelines for Third-Party Data Requests ("Guidelines") describe how civil litigants, attorneys, insurance companies, researchers, journalists, auditors, and other non-law-enforcement third parties ("Requestor") may request access to data or records held by Joyner Transportation & Logistic Services LLC ("Joyner," "we," "us," or "our"). Joyner takes the privacy of its users, customers, carriers, and employees seriously and does not voluntarily disclose non-public data to third parties outside of the processes described in these Guidelines, Joyner's Privacy Notice, or applicable law.

Third-party data requests are distinct from law enforcement requests. If you are a law enforcement agency, please refer to the Guidelines for Law Enforcement instead.

2. General Policy

Joyner does not sell, rent, or voluntarily share non-public user or customer data with third parties except:

  • Where the affected user or customer has provided explicit written consent to the disclosure
  • Where Joyner is compelled to produce data by valid legal process, including a subpoena, court order, or search warrant issued by a court of competent jurisdiction
  • Where disclosure is required by applicable law or regulation
  • Where disclosure is necessary to protect Joyner's legal rights in litigation to which Joyner is a party

Requestors who do not fall within one of these categories will not receive non-public Joyner data regardless of the stated purpose of the request.

3. Civil Subpoenas & Court Orders

Civil subpoenas issued in connection with litigation to which Joyner is not a party must comply with the applicable rules of civil procedure, including proper service on Joyner's registered agent. Joyner's response to civil subpoenas is governed by the following:

  • Joyner will review each civil subpoena for legal sufficiency and will object to subpoenas that are overly broad, unduly burdensome, seek information protected by privilege, or seek disclosure of data that Joyner is not legally authorized to produce
  • Joyner will notify the affected user or customer of a civil subpoena seeking their data before producing the data, unless a court order prohibits such notification or the notification deadline has already passed
  • Affected users and customers have the right to move to quash or modify a subpoena before Joyner produces their data — Joyner will cooperate with users who wish to exercise this right by providing reasonable advance notice of the production deadline
  • Joyner may seek a protective order or file objections in the issuing court where a subpoena seeks data that Joyner believes should not be produced
  • Joyner reserves the right to seek reimbursement of reasonable costs incurred in responding to civil subpoenas, including attorneys' fees for legal review and data retrieval costs

Note: Joyner does not accept informal or voluntary requests for user data from civil litigants, attorneys, or insurance companies without valid legal process. Please do not contact Joyner's customer service or general contact channels with data requests — they will be referred to the legal team and will not be actioned without proper legal process.

4. Insurance & Claims Investigations

Insurance companies and their investigators seeking Joyner records in connection with a freight claim, cargo claim, auto liability claim, or other insurance matter involving a Joyner customer or carrier must submit requests as follows:

  • Where the affected party has consented: Submit a written request to legal@myjoyner.com with a copy of the affected party's signed authorization for release of records. Joyner will produce records within the scope of the authorization upon verification.
  • Where the affected party has not consented: Valid legal process (subpoena or court order) is required. Informal requests without consent or legal process will not be honored.

5. Freight Claim Third-Party Requests

Shippers, consignees, cargo insurers, and other parties with a direct interest in a specific freight claim handled through Joyner's brokerage or freight services may request records related to that specific shipment by contacting claims@myjoyner.com. Requests must include:

  • The Joyner load or shipment reference number
  • The requestor's name, company, and relationship to the shipment
  • A description of the specific records requested
  • The purpose of the request

Joyner will review shipment-related requests on a case-by-case basis and may produce records where the requestor has a legitimate interest in the specific shipment and the disclosure does not harm Joyner's legal position or the privacy interests of other parties.

6. Research & Academic Requests

Researchers and academics seeking access to Joyner data for research purposes must submit a written proposal to legal@myjoyner.com describing:

  • The research institution and the researcher's name and credentials
  • The specific data requested and the proposed use of the data
  • IRB approval or equivalent ethical oversight documentation, where applicable
  • The proposed data security and confidentiality protections
  • Whether the research will result in any publication and whether Joyner data will be identified

Joyner evaluates research requests on a case-by-case basis and is under no obligation to grant access to any data for research purposes. Where data is provided for research, Joyner requires execution of a data use agreement governing the permitted use, security, and disposal of the data.

7. Media & Journalist Requests

Journalists and media organizations seeking comment, records, or information about Joyner for editorial purposes should contact Joyner's public relations team at pr@myjoyner.com. Joyner does not produce non-public user or customer data to journalists without valid legal process or the consent of the affected party, regardless of the editorial purpose of the request.

8. Audit & Regulatory Requests

Regulatory agencies, auditors, and compliance authorities with jurisdiction over Joyner's operations may submit data or records requests to legal@myjoyner.com. Joyner will cooperate with lawful regulatory requests and will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law or, where no deadline is specified, within a reasonable time. Requestors should identify the specific statutory or regulatory authority for the request in their submission.

9. How to Submit a Third-Party Data Request

All formal third-party data requests — including civil subpoenas, court orders, and consent-based insurance requests — must be submitted to:

  • Email: legal@myjoyner.com — attach the legal process document or authorization as a PDF. Include "Third-Party Data Request" in the subject line.
  • Mail: Joyner Transportation & Logistic Services LLC, Legal Department, Atlanta, Georgia

Joyner does not accept service of process by email for purposes of initiating litigation against Joyner. Email submission is accepted only for data request purposes where Joyner is not a named party in the legal proceeding.

10. Response Timeline

Joyner processes third-party data requests as follows:

  • Acknowledgment of receipt within five (5) business days
  • Substantive response or objection within twenty (20) business days for standard requests
  • Requests with court-imposed deadlines are prioritized — identify the deadline clearly in your submission
  • Complex or high-volume requests may require additional time — Joyner will communicate estimated timelines for such requests
