5. Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for the following in connection with the Animal Transport Service:
5.1 Health & Vaccination Requirements
- All animals must be current on all vaccinations required by applicable state and local law, including rabies vaccination where required
- You must be prepared to provide proof of current vaccination upon request
- Animals must be free from contagious illness, parasites (fleas, ticks), or any condition that poses a health risk to the driver or other animals
- Joyner reserves the right to refuse transport for any animal that appears ill, infested with parasites, or otherwise poses a health risk
5.2 Carrier & Restraint Requirements
- All animals must be transported in an appropriate, secure carrier or crate, or restrained with a properly fitted harness designed for vehicle use
- Carriers and crates must be of appropriate size for the animal — large enough for the animal to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably
- Animals may not ride unrestrained in the passenger cabin of a Joyner vehicle without prior written approval from Joyner
- You are responsible for providing a suitable carrier or restraint system; Joyner does not provide carriers
5.3 Animal Behavior
- You represent that the animal(s) to be transported do not have a history of aggression toward humans or other animals that could pose a safety risk during transport
- If an animal displays aggressive behavior during pickup or transport, the driver is authorized to refuse or terminate transport for safety reasons

5.4 Documentation

- You must provide accurate information about the species, breed, age, and weight of the animal at the time of booking
6. Driver Rights & Refusal of Service
Joyner drivers are authorized to refuse to accept or to terminate transport of any animal where, in the driver's reasonable judgment:
- The animal appears ill, injured, or in distress
- The animal is displaying aggressive behavior that poses a safety risk
- The animal is not in an appropriate carrier or restraint
- The animal or its carrier is soiled in a manner that would contaminate the vehicle
- The number or size of animals exceeds the booking or vehicle capacity
- Transport of the animal would violate applicable law
In cases where transport is refused for the animal's or driver's safety, Joyner will not be liable for any loss or expense incurred by the Customer as a result of the refusal.
7. Animal Welfare
Joyner is committed to the welfare of animals in its care. Drivers are trained to handle animals with care and to maintain appropriate vehicle temperature and ventilation during transport. In the event of a medical emergency involving an animal during transport, the driver will take reasonable steps to contact you and, where appropriate and time-permitting, seek veterinary assistance. Joyner is not liable for the cost of veterinary care, but will make reasonable efforts to facilitate emergency care at your direction and expense.
8. Liability for Animals
JOYNER EXERCISES REASONABLE CARE IN THE TRANSPORTATION OF ANIMALS. HOWEVER, JOYNER'S LIABILITY FOR INJURY TO, ILLNESS OF, DEATH OF, OR LOSS OF AN ANIMAL DURING TRANSPORT IS LIMITED TO THE LESSER OF: (A) THE DOCUMENTED FAIR MARKET VALUE OF THE ANIMAL AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT; OR (B) FIVE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($500.00) PER ANIMAL, UNLESS A HIGHER VALUE IS DECLARED IN WRITING AT THE TIME OF BOOKING AND AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE IS PAID.
Joyner is not liable for pre-existing medical conditions, stress-related reactions, or health events that occur during transport where Joyner has exercised reasonable care. Customers are strongly encouraged to obtain pet travel insurance for high-value animals.
9. Liability for Property Damage
You are responsible for any damage to the Joyner vehicle or equipment caused by your animal, including but not limited to scratches, soiling, or destruction of vehicle components. Cleaning fees for soiling caused by an animal may be charged to your account as follows:

Animal Transport bookings are subject to the Joyner Refund & Cancellation Policy. Cancellations made less than two (2) hours before the scheduled pickup time may be subject to a cancellation fee. No-shows (failure to present the animal at the scheduled pickup location and time) will be charged the full service fee.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Joyner and its affiliates, officers, employees, drivers, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your animal's behavior or health condition during transport; (b) your failure to comply with the requirements of these Terms; (c) injury or damage caused by your animal to the driver, other persons, or property; or (d) your violation of applicable law in connection with the transport of your animal.
12. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law
