Joyner Autow — Service Limitations Policy
1. Purpose
This Service Limitations Policy ("Policy") describes the coverage limits, service call caps, towing mileage allowances, and exclusions that apply to Joyner Autow motor club membership benefits. This Policy supplements and is incorporated into the Autow Membership Terms and the Roadside Assistance Terms. Defined terms used but not defined in this Policy have the meanings given to them in the Membership Terms.
2. Membership Tier Coverage Summary
The following table summarizes the key coverage limits for each Autow membership tier. Specific details for your enrolled tier are confirmed in your membership benefit summary available in your Joyner account.

3. Service Call Limits
Each dispatched roadside assistance response counts as one (1) service call against your annual limit, regardless of whether the service was successfully completed. A service call is counted when a Service Provider is dispatched to your location. Cancelled service requests cancelled more than twenty (20) minutes after dispatch will count as one service call. Service requests cancelled before dispatch do not count against your limit.
Annual service call limits reset on the membership anniversary date each year. Unused service calls do not roll over to the next membership year.
Once you have reached your annual service call limit, additional roadside assistance services are available on a pay-per-use basis at the applicable member rates. Joyner will notify you when you have one (1) service call remaining for the year.
4. Fair Use Limit — Autow Premier
Autow Premier members with unlimited service calls are subject to a fair use limit. Use of more than twelve (12) service calls in a single membership year may be reviewed by Joyner. If Joyner determines that a member's use pattern suggests abuse of the membership benefit — including but not limited to repeated service calls for the same vehicle issue or requests that appear to be commercial in nature — Joyner reserves the right to: (a) contact the member to discuss usage; (b) charge pay-per-use rates for calls beyond the fair use threshold; or (c) in cases of clear abuse, cancel the membership in accordance with the Cancellation & Refund Addendum.
5. Towing Mileage Limits & Overage
Towing mileage is measured from the location of the disabled vehicle to the destination facility. Mileage beyond the allowance for your tier is billed at the applicable overage rate per mile and charged to the payment method on file. You will be notified of the estimated overage charge at the time of dispatch and asked to confirm before the service provider is directed to a destination beyond your towing allowance.
Towing to a destination of your choice is available within your towing mileage allowance. If your preferred destination exceeds your allowance and you decline to pay the overage, the vehicle will be towed to the nearest qualified repair facility within your allowance.
6. Geographic Limitations
Autow roadside assistance is available throughout the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. Service in U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, etc.) is available where Joyner has active Service Provider coverage, which may be limited. Service is not available outside the United States. Members traveling internationally should obtain appropriate local roadside assistance coverage.
In remote or rural areas, response times may be significantly longer than in metropolitan areas due to limited Service Provider availability. Joyner will make commercially reasonable efforts to dispatch assistance but cannot guarantee response times in low-coverage areas.
7. Vehicle Coverage Limitations
Coverage under Autow membership is subject to the following vehicle-specific limitations:
- Standard membership covers passenger vehicles with a GVWR of 10,000 lbs or less. Vehicles exceeding this limit are not covered under standard tiers.
- Coverage applies to the member's vehicle regardless of which covered vehicle is disabled — membership is member-based, not vehicle-specific, for standard passenger vehicles within the covered class.
- Motorcycles require a motorcycle add-on endorsement. Without the endorsement, motorcycle service calls will be declined.
- RVs and motorhomes require an RV add-on endorsement. Without the endorsement, RV/motorhome service calls will be declined.
- Vehicles with aftermarket modifications that affect towing compatibility (e.g., non-standard hitches, lifted suspensions) may require specialized equipment. Additional charges may apply for specialized towing equipment not available from standard Service Providers.
8. Service-Specific Exclusions
8.1 Towing Exclusions
- Towing of vehicles that are not disabled due to a mechanical breakdown (e.g., towing for storage, relocation, or convenience)
- Towing ordered or required by law enforcement
- Towing of vehicles impounded by law enforcement or government authority
- Towing of vehicles from locations that are inaccessible to standard tow trucks (e.g., off-road terrain, bodies of water, structures requiring special equipment)
- Towing of vehicles being used for commercial hauling, rideshare, or delivery at the time of the breakdown (unless the member holds a commercial vehicle endorsement)
8.2 Battery Jump-Start Exclusions
- Battery replacement — if the battery requires replacement, the cost of the battery and installation is the member's responsibility
- Jump-start for vehicles with electrical system damage beyond a discharged battery
- Jump-start for hybrid or electric vehicles where standard jump-start procedures are contraindicated by the manufacturer — specialized EV roadside assistance may be available at pay-per-use rates
8.3 Flat Tire Change Exclusions
- No serviceable spare tire present (towing will be arranged instead)
- More than one flat tire on the same vehicle at the same time
- Tire repair or replacement costs
- Run-flat tires that have been driven on beyond the manufacturer's recommended run-flat distance
8.4 Fuel Delivery Exclusions
- Fuel delivery for diesel vehicles where diesel is not available from the Service Provider in the area
- Fuel delivery where the vehicle's fuel system is damaged and requires repair
- Fuel delivery for vehicles with contaminated fuel — draining and cleaning is not covered
8.5 Lockout Exclusions
- Key or key fob replacement, reprogramming, or duplication
- Damage to the vehicle resulting from forced entry where non-destructive entry is not possible — the member assumes this risk when requesting lockout service
- Lockout assistance for vehicles with advanced security systems that prevent standard entry methods
9. Costs the Member Is Responsible For
The following costs are always the member's responsibility and are not covered by any Autow membership tier:
- Cost of parts, labor, and repairs at the repair facility following towing
- Cost of fuel delivered (fuel delivery service fee is covered; fuel cost is not)
- Towing mileage overage charges beyond the tier allowance
- Specialized equipment charges for vehicles requiring non-standard towing equipment
- Storage fees at repair facilities or impound lots
- Any service not listed as a covered benefit under the member's enrolled tier
11. Benefit Year Reset
Your Autow membership benefit year runs from your membership enrollment date to the same date in the following year (your "anniversary date"). All annual benefit limits — including your service call allocation, fuel delivery usage, winching usage, and trip interruption benefits — reset on your membership anniversary date each year. Unused benefits do not carry over to the next benefit year.
Example: If you enrolled on March 15, your benefit year runs from March 15 through March 14 of the following year. On March 15 of each renewal year, all annual benefit counters reset to zero regardless of how many service calls were used in the prior year.
Benefit limits reset at renewal regardless of whether you upgrade, downgrade, or maintain your current tier. Mid-year tier changes do not reset or adjust your benefit year — they take effect at the next billing cycle as described in the Membership Terms.
12. Overage Pre-Authorization
Where a roadside assistance service is expected to result in overage charges — including towing mileage beyond your tier allowance, additional fuel beyond your covered gallons, or any other service cost that would exceed your membership coverage — Joyner dispatch will notify you of the estimated overage amount before the service proceeds.
For estimated overage charges of $500.00 or more, Joyner requires your express written or verbal pre-authorization before the service provider is dispatched or directed to proceed with the service. Pre-authorization will be documented in the dispatch record. If you decline to authorize overage charges at or above this threshold, Joyner will arrange the maximum covered service within your membership allowance — for example, towing to the nearest qualified facility within your towing mileage limit rather than to a more distant facility of your choice.
Overage charges below $500.00 will be communicated to you at dispatch but do not require formal pre-authorization — your continued participation in the service call constitutes acceptance of the disclosed overage charge.
13. Coverage for Rental Vehicles
Your Autow membership coverage extends to rental vehicles that you are operating as a licensed driver, subject to the following conditions:
- You must be the primary renter on the rental agreement and must be present at the vehicle's location at the time of the service call
- The rental vehicle must be within the covered vehicle class for your membership tier (passenger cars, SUVs, minivans, and light-duty pickup trucks with a GVWR of 10,000 lbs or less)
- Coverage for rental vehicles is subject to the same service call limits, towing mileage allowances, and exclusions that apply to your personally owned vehicle
- Joyner is not responsible for any costs, fees, or charges imposed by the rental company in connection with the breakdown or the roadside assistance service — including rental company damage claims, loss-of-use fees, or administrative fees
- You should check with your rental company regarding their own roadside assistance coverage before calling Joyner, as using Joyner's service may affect rental company coverage
- Coverage does not extend to commercial rental vehicles, moving trucks, or specialty rental vehicles outside the covered vehicle class
14. Coverage While Driving Someone Else's Vehicle
Your Autow membership coverage extends to vehicles owned by another person that you are operating as a licensed driver, subject to the following conditions:
- Member must be present: You must be physically present at the vehicle's location at the time of the service call. Coverage does not apply if you request service for a vehicle that you are not personally with at the time of the breakdown — for example, you may not call in a service request for a family member's vehicle if you are not at the scene.
- The vehicle must be within the covered vehicle class for your membership tier
- Coverage is subject to the same service call limits, towing mileage allowances, and exclusions that apply to your own vehicle
- The vehicle owner's own roadside assistance coverage (if any) is primary — Joyner's coverage applies as secondary where the vehicle owner's coverage is exhausted or unavailable
- Joyner is not liable for any damage to the vehicle owner's vehicle beyond the standard liability provisions in the Roadside Assistance Terms
This coverage extension is a member benefit — it applies to you as the named member who is present, not to the vehicle owner or any other person who may be with you.
15. Accessibility
Members with disabilities who require accessible service vehicles or other accommodations in connection with roadside assistance should disclose their needs at the time of service request. See the Autow Membership Terms and the Joyner Accessibility Statement for more information.
16. Language Access
Language assistance is available in all languages through Language Line Solutions when you call Joyner dispatch. See the Autow Membership Terms for full details.
17. Changes to Coverage Limits
Joyner reserves the right to modify coverage limits, service call caps, towing mileage allowances, and other benefit parameters at any time, with at least thirty (30) days' advance notice to active members. Changes take effect at the next membership renewal following the notice period. Members who do not agree to revised coverage terms may cancel their membership before renewal in accordance with the Autow Cancellation & Refund Addendum.
